Submission Guidelines
We are accepting a wide variety of content from many mediums and genres. This includes (but isn’t limited to) prose, poetry, editorials, opinion pieces, essays, multimedia, comics, etc. If you’re not sure it fits, email us a pitch and we’ll check it out. As far as guidelines go, we only have a few. One of InkTank's founding principles is to create an environment that allows our contributor’s creativity to thrive.
Submission Guidelines:
- We do not accept simultaneous submissions.
- It must be unpublished and original (please no fanfiction).
- It must be related to the issue’s theme. (For non-themed submissions please read the Non-Theme Submissions guidelines).
- Satire and/or controversial topics will be considered, but InkTank will not publish bigotry or hate speech of any kind. This includes but is not limited to; sexism, ageism, racism, homophobia, classism, or nationalism.
- There is no restriction on length/word count, but we remind all contributors that reading digital media has more eye-strain than reading in print. Therefore longer pieces need to earn every line.
- Send all submissions to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .
- When submitting please include a cover letter in the body of your email and as the first page of your submission (including; name or pen-name, genre, a one to three sentence description of the piece, and a byline to be included in publication) and your submission(s) as attachment(s).
- All written submissions must be .doc, .rtf, or .odt file formats. Do not send .docx files. Unauthorized filetypes can lose formatting during conversion and are generally a huge headache. So make our editor's jobs easier by sticking to the correct formats.
- Stand out! Please include either your name or the title as the filename your submission. Every issue we get several generic "inktanksubmission" files.
Check out our Submission Calendar for upcoming themes and issues. Any submissions that do not follow the above guidelines or are received past the deadline may not be considered for publishing at our discretion. For all other inquiries please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Please remember to include your name (or the name you would like it published under), the piece’s title, and the issue you are submitting it for.
